Ensuring Protection and Accountability
A community committed to protecting our people, wildlife and sovereignty.
Our mission is to expose the severe environmental and health risks associated with this program and advocate for the well-being of our residents, livestock, and natural resources.
At Stop The Toxic Fire Ant Program, we are dedicated to safeguarding our community, environment, and natural resources from the harmful effects of the National Fire Ant Eradication Plan. Our mission is to raise awareness, demand transparency, and advocate for safer, more effective fire ant treatment practices that do not compromise human health, wildlife, or our ecosystems.
Our community is facing an environmental crisis due to the Fire Ant Eradication Program, which has led to the poisoning of livestock, waterways, and local flora and fauna. We are dedicated to highlighting these issues and demanding immediate action to prevent further damage.
We are addressing breaches of human rights and calling for program restrictions following environmental damage caused by the program e.g. poisioning of Dawson Creek and the South Pine River in the Samford Valley region. Ideally, fair treatment would involve a review of the Biosecurity Act and the fact that citizens currently have no meaningful options to reject a program which they suspect may be causing damage to private properties. Currently the power of the Program Machine appears to be greater than that of citizens to effectively draw attention to legitimate concerns.
The program has caused serious health problems for residents, including swelling, respiratory issues, and skin irritation. We aim to bring these health impacts to light and seek accountability for the harm inflicted on our community.
Our efforts are supported by a growing community of over 2,000 members who are actively involved in documenting the program’s impact through water test results, video footage, and other evidence. We are working to amplify our voices through various platforms to bring attention to this critical issue.
We are challenging the program’s lack of an Environmental Risk Assessment and the harmful baiting practices that have led to contamination of our water sources and properties. Our goal is to ensure that environmental and health regulations are rigorously reviewed prior to demanding compliance from citizens who have lost faith in these regulations. This misconduct has resulted in the death of aquatic life and has raised serious concerns about the program’s effectiveness and safety.

The table is from the 2021 Strategic Review
Pyriproxyfen is particularly harmful to crustaceans and fish, causing developmental and reproductive issues even at low concentrations. The high level detected in Dawson Creek (81 μg/L) significantly exceeds safe limits, potentially leading to severe ecological damage, including reduced fish populations and impaired ecosystem health.
